Eastside Preparatory School’s Vision
To inspire students to create a better world. Our mission is to guide students to think critically, act responsibly, lead compassionately, and innovate wisely. The four mission components guide the development of curriculum as well as the evolution of the EPS culture. Founded in 2002, Eastside Prep was re-accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) in January 2019. Eastside Prep has grown from 17 students in 2003-2004 to a projected total of 540 students for the 2025-2026 academic year. Position Summary
Promotes student success by providing both responsive and preventative support services for students in grades 5 – 12 on matters relating to social-emotional well-being and mental health. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Well-Being and works as a member of a team to guide the development and implementation of programs and practices related to students’ social, emotional, and personal growth. Duties and Responsibilities
The School Counselor supports students, grades 5 – 12, and their families within the context of Eastside Preparatory School's educational mission. Responsibilities include: Providing short-term, solution-focused, and strengths-based counseling in one-on-one and small group settings. Collaborating with school leadership, faculty, and staff to coordinate student support as part of the Well-Being Team. Fostering a sense of belonging for all community members through work in Equity, Inclusion, and Compassionate Leadership (EICL). Designing and facilitating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons with Grade-Level Coordinators. Consulting with families regarding adolescent emotional development and mental health. Referring students to external therapists and community providers. Connecting with students’ mental health providers to support ongoing treatment during school hours. Applying trauma-informed care practices. Maintaining records related to students' mental and emotional health. Serving as a grade-level advisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in adolescent mental health. Knowledge of tools used in school counseling. Effective collaboration skills with community members. Excellent communication skills. Credentials and Experience
Minimum MA in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field. Preferred mental health license (e.g., LMHC, LMFT, LICSW). At least three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation
Annual salary range of $80,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, HSA, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with employer match, paid time off, professional development, and more. Application Process
