The Broward Sheriff's Office is hiring for a deputy sheriff. The base salary is $61,969.36; the $64,448.13 listed includes a 4% First Responder Supplement. Testing and scheduling

The Broward Sheriff's Office offers condensed testing for all Certified Deputy Sheriff applicants. Human Resources will schedule the selection process within a one-week period. Applicants are responsible for travel expenses. If not interested in condensed testing, contact Human Resources at 954-321-4400 to opt out; testing requirements will be accommodated accordingly. Swimming and physical agility test results. If ever arrested, submit official court disposition, police report, and written statement for review. FDLE Certification documentation. Certified "entire" driving history. DD214 Member 4 form (if claiming Veterans' Preference). Minimum requirements

Minimum age 19. United States Citizen at time of application (F.S.S.943.13(2)). High school diploma or equivalent; foreign diploma evaluation may be required. Must not have felony or certain misdemeanor convictions; background investigation will determine suitability. If arrested, attach official court documents and police reports with the application, plus a written explanation. Must pass swimming and physical agility tests prior to submitting an application; test results must be attached. Must be Florida Law Enforcement Certified at time of application; FDLE Certification must be attached. If claiming Veteran's Preference, attach a DD214 Member 4 form to the online application. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver license with current address; attach a certified Florida driving history. Driving history

Florida driving histories can be obtained at Broward County courthouses. 3-, 7-year and online histories will not be accepted. If previously licensed in another state in the last 10 years, submit an entire driving history from that state. Driving histories must be within one month of application date. Driving history records must be attached to the online application. Law enforcement and public safety work in protection of life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work includes patrol, traffic control, investigations, courthouse and port security, vessel patrol, scuba diving, K-9 handling, serving writs, and public safety education. Some duties involve personal danger and require independent judgment. Work assigned by supervisor and can include overtime. Physical requirements and accommodations

Essential functions include physically demanding tasks and possible exposure to hazards. Must maintain CJSTC standards. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver license with current address.
