University of Memphis Career Opportunities A post-doctoral position is in the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER) available at The University of Memphis.

The postdoctoral researcher will work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative team to pursue research in degraded visual environment mitigation. The primary duties of this position will be to research and develop algorithms, prepare training data, and write reports/articles for technical publications describing any intellectual developments. In addition, twenty percent of the researcher’s duties will include grant proposal development and graduate student/project mentoring. This work is funded by the Department of the Navy.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to carry out research under minimal supervision, contribute to the formulation and submission of research proposals and publications (quarterly and final reports, peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings) and mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants and students.

Minimum Position Qualifications

The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Optical or Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning are a requirement for this position.

Special Conditions

Initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for an additional year, based on performance and availability of funding. Performance is evaluated mainly by publications in journals.
