Naturally A Great Place to Work!****Closing:**10/18/2025**Salary:**$20.58 hourly rate**Job Summary:**We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to perform clerical work involving the maintenance of fiscal records. This position requires independent judgment in resolving routine issues and operates under general supervision. Responsibilities include applying bookkeeping principles, maintaining accurate records, and performing mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in bookkeeping, fiscal record maintenance, or diversified office work—or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Florida Driver’s License (or one transferable within 30 days of hire) is required. Strong computer skills, the ability to follow instructions, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

Hours for position are 8 -5.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**All employees share components of leadership, management, technical, and team skills to assist in making the City of Largo the community of choice in Tampa Bay.**Leadership*** Demonstrates an understanding and reflection of the City’s mission, vision, and values and a commitment to achieve organizational goals aligned with the City’s strategic plan* Champions a high performance work culture that encourages and embraces new ideas, develops individuals and welcomes and encourages diverse perspectives* Articulates strategic and innovative thinking and provides clarity to deliver superior services* Approaches the job with enthusiasm and curiosity to promote a solutions-oriented work culture**Management*** Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities* Follows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance**Technical*** Cash handling tasks to include auditing and reconciling daily cash activities and preparing deposits* Conducts routine pre-audits of a variety of records by examining, verifying and reviewing accounts, cash, invoices, bills, vouchers, and records; prepares invoices for payment; creates folders and maintains files or records of expenditures; processes accounts payable checks/requisitions* Inputs, accesses, and retrieves data from a computer* May maintain responsibility for petty cash bank in department* Maintains and monitors the City's fixed asset system and records; tags and inventories all fixed assets* Assists in other bookkeeping functions such as maintaining files; compiles figures for various reports; processes and posts records; processes and assembles data for computer input; balances detailed accounts with controls; processes purchase requisitions* Maintains various records; reconciles work sheets; prepares special and periodic reports; answers questions and verifies information* May notarize laser, radar, and speedometer certifications and maintain associated records; may renew confidential license plate registrations and maintain associated records; may prepare security access and identification cards* Performs clerical functions**Team Skills*** Supports honest and transparent decision-making* Collaborates with all team members in a way that builds upon ideas and takes personal accountability and ownership of projects, roles, and assignments* Openly exhibits a positive attitude, in words and action, and encourages others to do the samePerforms related work as required.**EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS:** As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS****Education and Experience:*** High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping and/or the maintenance of fiscal records or diversified office experience; or equivalency of training and experience* Valid Florida Driver's License or from another state for transfer within 30 days of hire**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures* Ability to apply such knowledge of work problems* Ability to acquire knowledge of the rules and regulations relative to accounting records* Ability to operate office machines* Ability to make mathematical calculations with reasonable speed and accuracy* Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public* Ability to input, access, and retrieve data from a computer**WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS****Work Environment:** 99% Inside a climate controlled building; 1% outside which may include driving.**Physical Requirements:** The essential functions of the job require: sitting approximately six (6) hours per day, standing approximately one (1) hour per day, and walking approximately one (1) hour per day. The job also requires frequent: fine manipulations and repetitive motion, with occasional: lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 15 pounds. On rare occasions the work requires: bending/stooping, reaching, and lifting objects weighing up to 44 pounds.**Sensory Requirements:** Hearing: Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation and on the telephone. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others and speak effectively on the telephone. Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, and read normal and/or fine print.**Driving Requirements:** The work may require occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.**Technology:** The work requires ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop, laptop computers, calculators and all associated software.
