Role Purpose Responsible for the financial health of a business unit. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research. Guiding senior managers in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the finance function and be a key member and decision maker of the Plant management staff.
Proactively utilize business partnership skills to move the plant to better cost understanding and higher profitability.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall asset and liability control.
Implement and ensure business adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and external audits).
Provide finance expertise and decision support to business leaders in support of the division strategy.
Serve as a bridge between business and finance to ensure clear communication of financial requirements and deliverables.
Provide to leadership timely, in-month analyses of variations to targets and mitigation options before period close.
Identify and assess the financial implications (ROI, IRR & Payback) of capital investments.
Drive process improvement initiatives and support engineering in identifying and calculating cost reduction opportunities for various projects/initiatives.
Willingness to fully integrate into plant’s team by spending time on the production floor on a regular basis. Embrace Corning’s culture and values.
Fundamental understanding of plant/product costs. Establish, analyze and report on key plant operational and accounting metrics. Present plant financial performance in various forums as required.
Actively participate in the development of the site’s total safety culture.
Ensure appropriate support of Solar Module divisional requirements and Corning Finance functions.
Establish processes in the new plant, document SOPs and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity.
Lead system (SAP) integration projects, and all corporate system initiatives/projects.
Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs.
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
MBA and/or CPA preferred.
10+ years of relevant experience; preferable Manufacturing/Cost Accounting experience.
Plant Controller experience (within or outside Corning) desired.
Proven knowledge of US GAAP.
