At AXA XL, we deliver on our claims promise by having the best systems, the best people and the best partnerships in place. Our Energy Claims team handles complex energy-related claims where experience matters. This role manages complex, high-exposure Primary and Excess claims involving Commercial General Liability, Commercial Excess Auto, Contractors Pollution Liability and/or Professional Liability coverage forms. The candidate will analyze coverage issues, gather information, ensure reserve adequacy, mitigate risk exposure, manage litigation, and develop resolution strategies. You will perform complex work under limited supervision, using sound judgment and following policy/guideline guidelines. A high level of procedural and technical knowledge developed through extensive experience is expected.
What You’ll Be Doing
Technical claims management: Oversee technical aspects of claims, evaluate applicable AXA XL coverage, draft coverage position letters, analyze contracts, and effectuate risk transfer.
Reserving and disposition: Ensure timely and adequate reserving, properly dispose of high exposure and complex claims, monitor reserving activity, and adjust reserves as required.
Loss investigation and claim management: Conduct loss investigations on all assigned claims, determine potential recoveries, maintain accountability through settlement/closure, and adhere to time and budget constraints.
Documentation and communication: Maintain accurate records, adhere to claims standards, and provide timely claims status updates to internal and external customers.
Relationship building and reporting: Update the Claims Manager, build relationships with internal departments, and provide summaries and statistical reports as required.
Customer focus and development: Anticipate and meet customer needs, coach less experienced team members, and stay aware of market developments to support personal development.
Claim file management: Ensure complete claim files and documentation in compliance with AXA XL standards.
Expense management and Best Practices: Manage expense budgets and adhere to AXA XL Best Practices in all claims-handling activities.
You will report to the Claims Manager, Energy & Construction.

Effective communication skills for large loss presentations and interactions with claims organization, underwriters, brokers, claimants, vendors, and other insurers.
Ability to operate within delegated authority levels and proactively seek input when needed.
Strong organizational and calendaring skills.
Highest standards of personal and professional conduct.
