Utility Billing Representative

Cleveland County Water (CCW) is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time, on-site position of Utility Billing Representative. This position performs intermediate skilled administrative support work preparing, checking, and verifying utility billing data, preparing and mailing utility bills, and receiving and responding to utility billing questions from the public. Responsibilities Include: Generate and print utility bills and close customer accounts and generate final bills Establish, update, transfer, and finalize customer accounts Apply customer deposits and generate customer deposit refund checks Adjust customer accounts Answer telephone Receive and respond to customer inquiries and complaints regarding utility bills Import meter readings and check reports for abnormal water usage Apply charges to customer accounts for tampering Review billing reports Generate charges to customer accounts for backflow testing and other charges Enter a variety of data into computer system Perform other related work as apparent or assigned Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent, moderate experience in public utility billing, accounts receivable, or equivalent combination of education and experience General knowledge of standard office procedures and practices General knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and associated software Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and detailed work procedures Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form Ability to make arithmetic computations Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public General knowledge of utility billing terminology, methods, procedures, and equipment preferred General knowledge of clerical and accounting terminology, methods, and procedures preferred Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina CCW offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits including but not limited to health, dental & vision insurance, 401K contribution, local government retirement system participation, and longevity pay.
