Responsibilities

Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.

Reconcile the cafe bank account daily activity and ensure that related accounting entries are accurate, timely, and consistently recorded.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

Contribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of accounting systems and business processes to increase efficiencies and shorten the closing cycle.

Detailed Balance Sheet account review for Assets and Liabilities.

Assist with inter-company monthly billing.

Perform and assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.

Resolve general ledger account discrepancies by researching, verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.

Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.

Assist with internal and external auditors as needed.

Comply with internal controls and best practices and assist in other accounting projects as requested.

Efficiently communicates and works with internal departments to obtain information as required.

Maintain functions following finance policies and practices, GAAP, FASB, and other internal control standards.

Keeps current and improves any departmental checklists or procedures.

Present a professional image to employees, guests, clients, owners, and investors.

Promote positive public/employee relations and maintain high morale.

Hold confidential and/or proprietary information in strict confidence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, as well as a minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience

Public or private experience preferred.

Detail-oriented and experience in data analytics/reporting.

Current experience with journal entries, balance sheets reconciliations, and monthly financial accounting close process (e.g., prepaids and accruals).

Strong Excel knowledge required (Pivot Tables, Micros, Formatting) with the ability to teach others.

Proficient in Office 365 and possess strong writing skills for departmental needs.

Restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.

Capable of handling advanced accounting concepts with minimal supervision and the ability to work within deadlines.

Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Strong communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.

Physical Demands

Ability to move throughout the corporate office (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods.

Ability to sit for extended periods.

Ability to make repetitive movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.

Ability to occasionally move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 10 pounds.

Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and a loud/noisy environment.
