This position provides a visible presence at store entrances and exits to mitigate theft and fraud and maintain a safe and secure environment for Associates and Customers. The Specialist greets customers in a courteous manner, demonstrates command presence in company-issued vest/attire, and monitors the Code 50 package inspection policy. The role involves walking the sales floor to identify potential theft indicators and collaborating with Store Leadership to ensure compliance with Loss Prevention directives and minimize operational shortage. The candidate should embrace the company values and have a mentality to protect the Ross treasure. Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe and Secure Environment

Understand safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors to maintain a secure environment for Associates and Customers. Provide visible command presence, including greetings with eye contact at store entrances/exits and on the sales floor in appropriate attire, monitoring for safety issues. Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits. Developing Great Teams; Partnerships

Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a courteous manner. Treat all Customers and Associates with respect. Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates using company programs. Engage with internal and external partners; may include district meetings, educating Associates, providing recognition, etc. Other duties as assigned to support Loss Prevention initiatives. Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the Company brand at all times. Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code. Mitigating Theft and Fraud

Monitor entrances/exits and the sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior. Gather theft indicators and use internal or external intelligence to impact shortage trends; communicate effectively with Store Leadership and Loss Prevention. Adhere to Company policy for external theft response. Maximize productivity by minimizing unnecessary steps and touches while working. Minimizing Operational Shortage

Aid in developing effective processes to minimize shortages; train and educate Associates on shortage reduction initiatives. Observe and validate proper checkout procedures for customers and associates. Competencies

High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. One year retail supervision experience or similar training preferred. One year loss prevention/security training preferred. Active Security Guard License preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the Store team. Excellent customer service skills. Proven ability to resolve conflicts effectively. Must comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, and/or drug and alcohol testing, as applicable. Physical Requirements / ADA

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store. Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs., including upward pulling. Must be able to bend, stoop, or crouch regularly. Supervisory Responsibilities

The base pay range for this role is $17.16 - $17.66 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location.
