Quality Manager Akron, OH – site-based role Company Profile: Our company, located in Akron, OH, is a 3rd generation family-owned business. We are a leading provider of products to retailers in the multi-billion dollar and growing healthy snacks sector. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SQF Practitioner, maintains SQF System Holds responsibility for Food Safety and holds authority to initiate action regarding Food Safety Ensure food safety procedures are adhered to and enforced throughout production. Serve as primary contact for all external audits concerning food safety and quality. Primary contact for Pest Control Program Prepare and educate all employees on food safety and quality standards Serve as primary contact for all customer complaints (document and track all complaints and prepare corrective actions, as needed) Monitor all inbound and outbound products for spec adherence. Handle filing and monitoring of all internal food safety documentation (lot code tracking, allergen control, spec adherence, etc.) Monitor FDA issued recalls and ensure all vendors are safe and approved. Handle all internal recall needs. Manage verification and validation for all food safety and quality systems. Ensures adherence to the Master Sanitation Schedule Answers and fulfills all external document-action requests Manages the Quality Department Budget Manages Product Development Specialist Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to inventory control activities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related food safety training Experience: 4+ years in quality role at a food manufacturing facility Experience in food safety 3rd party audits: i.e., SQF, BRC, FDA, AIBI Management experience SQF Certified HACCP Certified PCQI Certified Skills: Basic arithmetic Strong attention to detail Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work weekends with a strong work ethic and proven leadership skills. A self-motivated individual who is able to direct others. Excellent communication skills Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices Basic computer knowledge RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Operations Manager Works closely with Production, Warehouse, and Customer Service PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
