Leidos
Overview
Leidos Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer to join a matrixed organization of systems engineers, model-based systems engineers, and specialty systems engineers. The role supports between 1 and 3 efforts simultaneously, balancing tasks throughout a 40-hour workweek. Projects may involve physics-based modeling & simulation, hardware development, and both classified and unclassified work. The MBSE Engineer will work independently to define tasking derived from customer needs and contractual documents, with MBSE technical oversight provided as needed. Each effort will require different model artifacts, with the MBSE Engineer using Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML to develop requirements specifications, system architecture content (bdd / ibd), and system behavioral content (act / stm). The position does not require an MBSE Subject Matter Expert, but the role minimally requires experience working independently on MBSE models, some model customization, and the ability to communicate with non-Systems Engineering stakeholders who are less familiar with MBSE approaches. The MBSE Engineer will work in a matrixed organization that supports multiple programs across various engineering fields and team environments. When projects end, there is an opportunity to support a different program within the matrixed engineering portfolio. Experience in other systems engineering areas (e.g., Lead Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis) is preferred. Success in this organization often leads to leadership positions in MBSE, Systems Engineering, and SEIT. Responsibilities
Autonomously balance multiple MBSE efforts (1–3) during the workweek across a variety of applications from physics-based modeling & simulation to hardware development. Develop MBSE artifacts using Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML, including requirements specifications, system architecture content (bdd / ibd), and system behavioral content (act / stm). Communicate with stakeholders who are less familiar with MBSE approaches and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a matrixed environment. Adapt tasking based on customer needs and contractual documents, with oversight provided as needed. Possibly support different programs within a portfolio as projects end. Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years of experience, or an MS with 2+ years. Experience using MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, and/or other MBSE modeling tools. Experience deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems. Ability to collaborate in a team environment with multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team. Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville/North Alabama, AL. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and/or 2–4 years of direct systems engineering experience. Experience leading a team of engineers and estimating engineering effort for Systems Engineering tasks. Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and methods; experience supporting DoD programs. OMG Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) or INCOSE SEP (ASEP or CSEP) certification. Experience with additional MBSE knowledge or related System Engineering areas is a plus. Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00. This range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors may influence offers, including responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, market data, or applicable agreements.
