Input Technology Solutions is seeking a
Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)
to support an exciting program at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
Overview The candidate will analyze, model, and document system architectures and requirements for a major DoD weapons system. This role requires integrating system engineering best practices with model-based methods and tools to ensure product performance, traceability, and compliance across the lifecycle. The engineer will support decision-making through trade studies, requirement validation, and architecture modeling to drive effective system design and sustainment.
Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and allocate weapons system requirements using both traditional and model-based methods.
Conduct requirement analysis, trade studies, and functional decomposition within an MBSE framework.
Build, validate, and maintain system architecture models (SysML/UML) to represent system functions, behaviors, and interfaces.
Implement digital thread concepts, ensuring traceability from requirements through design, test, and verification.
Manage requirement traceability using DOORS and integrate requirement sets with MBSE models in Cameo.
Support system-of-systems integration and interface definition for missile defense programs.
Conduct model-based simulation and analysis to evaluate system performance and identify design gaps.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and test engineers, as well as government and contractor stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver technical briefings and documentation to program leadership.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 7+ years of experience working on missile defense or other complex DoD programs/projects.
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles, methods, and tools.
Experience in developing and maintaining system architecture models.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
Experience with GMD and C2BMC programs.
Hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or similar MBSE tools.
Knowledge of DoDAF/UPDM/UAF frameworks.
Experience with SysML modeling and simulation for complex systems.
Familiarity with verification & validation (V&V) within an MBSE environment.
Background in digital engineering initiatives and supporting DoD digital transformation goals
