We are seeking an Architect to join our team in Albany, NY, to work on projects with municipal clients and private sector developers.
Position Overview The Architect will support the architectural team in the design and execution of a wide range of projects, including work for municipal clients and private-sector developers. This position provides hands-on experience in architectural design, project documentation, and coordination while contributing to the success of both public and private sector initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, strong communication skills, and an eagerness to grow within a collaborative and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Project Support:
Assist in the development of architectural design concepts, drawings, and presentation materials.
Technical Documentation:
Under supervision of senior architects, prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, and construction documents using Revit or other design software.
Design Collaboration:
Contribute to project design meetings, refining design ideas to align with client goals and requirements.
Client & Consultant Coordination:
Collaborate with internal project teams, external consultants, and clients to ensure effective communication and project execution.
Presentations & Client Relationships:
Prepare design presentations and reports for municipal clients, private developers, and other stakeholders; respond to inquiries and manage relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Management:
Lead project-specific project management exercises while working with senior architectural leadership.
Documentation & Compliance:
Help prepare and organize project documentation, including architectural drawings, technical specifications, and permitting documents; coordinate zoning, permitting, and code compliance.
Coordination:
Support coordination of design work with engineers and other disciplines; conduct site analysis as needed.
Sustainability & Design Innovation:
Support sustainable design efforts, including energy-efficient solutions and materials; stay informed on trends and industry standards.
Professional Development:
Participate in mentoring, continuing education, certifications, and industry events to enhance growth.
Position Requirements Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
2-5 years of post-licensure professional experience in architecture, with a focus on municipal clients and private sector developers preferred.
5-8 years of total proven professional experience in architecture, with a focus on municipal clients and private sector developers preferred.
Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and other design and drafting software.
Strong understanding of architectural design principles, building codes, and municipal regulations. Strong portfolio to prove artistic skills.
Familiarity with construction documentation, specifications, and project coordination.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Passion for design and eagerness to grow in the architecture field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on municipal, residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
LEED Green Associate or other sustainability certifications a plus.
Knowledge of site analysis and environmental considerations in architectural design.
