Overview
Instrument Technician I at UAMS - University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This position will fill multiple positions. Summary of Job Duties
The Instrument Tech will be responsible for decontamination, assembling and inspecting, packaging, testing and sterilizing instruments and/or sets. Maintain records of loads and items being removed from department for processing, transports loads to and from SSD and prepare proper storage for equipment. Performs routine testing including biological test for steam autoclaves, Sterrad and System 1E. Assist Operating Room (OR) staff with needed supplies and equipment. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Instrument Tech. Work experience as an Instrument Tech. Experience fulfilling orders/requests (packing, assembling & stocking items). Responsibilities
Decontaminate (dis-assemble, clean by hand and/or machine) medical instruments/materials. Assemble and package, inspect and test instruments, re-assemble sets, place sets in proper containers and/or wrapping and load/transport loaded carts with prepared sets. Maintain record of loads and items being removed from department for processing. Transport loads to and from CSS and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment. Use and test sterilizing equipment; perform dart and biological tests for autoclaves; perform diagnostic and biological tests for Steris sterilizer. Record and accurately interpret results of tests; assist OR staff; help locate needed supplies and equipment. Communicate professionally even when under pressure/fulfilling demanding and/or stressful requests. Position revolves around serving the Operating Room's (OR’s) sterile instrument and equipment needs. Must understand the URGENCY of the OR staff’s requests. Answer directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor. Other related duties as assigned. Work Environment & Physical Requirements
