Job Summary The Instrument Technician will decontaminate, assemble, inspect, package, test, and sterilize medical instruments and/or sets. Responsibilities include maintaining records, transporting loads, and using sterilizing equipment while supporting operating room needs.

Responsibilities

Decontaminate (dis‑assemble, hand or machine clean) medical instruments/materials.

Assemble, package, inspect, test instruments, re‑assemble sets, and place sets in proper containers or wrapping.

Transport loaded carts with prepared sets and maintain record of loads removed from the department.

Use and test sterilizing equipment; perform diagnostic and biological tests for autoclaves and Steris sterilizers.

Record and interpret results of tests; assist operating room staff and provide needed supplies and equipment.

Communicate professionally under pressure or when fulfilling demanding and/or stressful requests.

Serve the operating room’s sterile instrument and equipment needs with an understanding of urgency.

Report directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor; perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Qualifications :

Certified Instrument Tech.

Work experience as an Instrument Tech.

Experience fulfilling orders/requests (packing, assembling & stocking items).

Salary Information Commensurate with education and experience.
