Position Summary
The
Network Engineer I
supports Liberty Alliance’s Technology Division by configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems critical to infrastructure and event operations. This role is responsible for the deployment and monitoring of Unifi and Cisco systems, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VPN configurations, and Starlink systems. The engineer contributes to network performance, security, and reliability through proactive monitoring, firmware management, and event support. Position Requirements And Essential Job Functions KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Configure and deploy Unifi and Cisco networking devices (switches, firewalls, wireless access points). Monitor network performance to detect and resolve outages or anomalies. Perform troubleshooting for wired and wireless connectivity issues; resolve Level 1 network tickets. Document network configurations, diagrams, and maintain inventory of network assets. Support VPN and remote access setups as needed. Assist with installation of cabling and physical network infrastructure. Perform firmware updates and patch management for network appliances. Participate in security reviews and implement firewall rule changes under guidance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for site setup during events and special projects. Complete all other tasks and duties as needed to help drive Liberty Alliance’s Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our organization’s values. Qualifications Required : High School diploma/GED required, associate's degree or technical training in networking preferred. 5+ years of relevant experience in network operations or IT infrastructure. Strong knowledge of network operations and protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS). Familiarity with Cisco and/or Unifi networking equipment. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow directions, document work, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Preferred : Hands-on experience with Unifi Controllers, VLANs, SSIDs, and PoE switches. Basic understanding of firewalls, routing, and subnetting. Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Unifi Network, Cisco Meraki, PRTG, SolarWinds). Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation tools. Experience working with Starlink systems and drone networking protocols. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCT/CCNA, or Ubiquiti UEWA. This is a full-time, onsite role; candidates must be able to perform duties in person at assigned location(s). WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in office, data center, and field environments, with a mix of indoor and outdoor exposure. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods, and occasionally climb or work in crawlspaces, ceilings, or racks. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle networking equipment and cabling. Work may involve moderate noise levels and occasional heat exposure.
