Overview These duties describe a position within the New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). The role supports Unisys mainframe developer teams with the group’s mainframe migrations system and vendor software under the direction of ITS-3, SG-23, within the Dedicated Support/OTDA/Development Support.

Base pay range $66,951.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr

Duties Description Under the direction of ITS-3, SG-23, the position will support the Unisys mainframe developer teams with their use of our group’s mainframe migrations system and vendor software.

Monitor group mailboxes for incoming requests.

Instruct developers on how to use our mainframe Automated Integrated Migration System (AIMS) and web-based Project Tracking System (PTS).

Perform basic administration of PTS and WLM.

Assist with the administration of annual software releases.

Assist with coding changes to AIMS and related programs using UNISYS COBOL.

Assist with installation of vendor software on Windows Server.

Assist with maintaining documentation on the group’s SharePoint site.

Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: A bachelor’s or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.

OR

A bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;

OR

60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.

OR

Two years of professional experience in information technology.

Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14.

Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply.

Notes Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring. Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Other Information For the NY HELPS program, this title may be filled via non-competitive appointment. If eligible, positions located in New York City may receive a downstate adjustment; Mid-Hudson locations may receive a separate adjustment. Details will be provided if selected for interview.
