Database Engineer III Schenectady, NY, USA, 12345 Contract Dates: 12/19/2016 to 06/18/2017 Hourly Rate: $56.40/hr on W2 The Database Engineer III will be responsible for requirements, design, and implementation of complex reporting solutions with strong experience in semantics/metadata design. Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing Business Intelligence reporting with experience in semantic design Developing and implementing metadata configuration Assisting in the evaluation and proof of concept of new visualization technologies Coordinating with deployment and support teams to ensure solutions get implemented into QA and production environments Writing SQL to explore source data and identify data issues Developing peer, cross-functional, and cross-GE business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness Essential Responsibilities: Build tooling to rapidly make important information visible and available to both internal and external customers Build, publish, and maintain dynamic BI (Business Intelligence) dashboards in Tableau Develop SQL queries against a Greenplum (Postgresql) data warehouse Compute fleet metrics including availability, fault rate, and production ratio Build, publish, and maintain static reports Guide infrastructure and database improvement development Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience Minimum of 5 years of experience working in data visualization and analytics Desired Characteristics: Strong knowledge of SQL and retrieving data from relational database systems Previous experience working with large data sets using big data technologies including Greenplum or other MPP database systems Previous experience with advanced SQL programming including DML and DDL Familiarity with scripting/programming in Java, Python, Matlab, R, and/or VBA Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment Superior analytical skills, with strong desire to improve processes and performance Ability to work effectively within all levels of the organization and customers Strong presentation skills Distinctive ability to analyze technical processes Strong communication and project leadership skills with ability to clearly communicate issues and resolution to both a technical and non-technical audience Strong customer service focus and desire for continual improvement Ability to take decisions and to adopt responsibility Strong quality awareness and ability to identify future failures, defects, and problems Experience working with multicultural teams Strong team player with structured work methods and analytical skills High flexibility and motivation to succeed Previous experience leading cross-functional projects Additional Information
