Overview
Harper Associates is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to join a private family office in Birmingham, MI. The role supports company staff with the use and maintenance of all technical items in the IT environment, ensuring safe, secure, and available access to computers and related resources. The position primarily supports approximately 100 on‑site computers.
Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding and offboarding employees and related support.
Hands‑on assistance for end users with unfamiliar tasks.
Assure reasonable service levels from the Managed Service Provider (MSP) by reviewing and following up on daily tickets and weekly monitoring reports.
Assist with purchase and deployment of computers, software and other equipment.
Maintain detailed equipment logs and manage warranty renewals.
Participate in and conduct regularly scheduled meetings with IT service providers and vendors as needed.
Engage in and conduct IT training and awareness events to improve staff productivity, security, and familiarity with tools.
Install, configure, and maintain IT operating systems, software, and hardware.
Monitor system performance, and troubleshoot alongside IT consultants and the MSP.
Assist in maintaining network servers and other infrastructure to ensure stability and efficiency.
Participate in analyzing system needs and functional requirements to define specifications.
Collaborate with consultants and the MSP to develop system architectures, create documentation, and implement engineering methodologies.
Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks where possible.
Typical Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
Certifications:
CompTIA A+, Security+, Microsoft Fundamentals are helpful.
Experience:
1–3 years in Information Technology, field support, network support, or help desk roles.
Technical Skills:
LAN & WAN networking concepts, systems engineering lifecycle, Microsoft Active Directory and cloud equivalents, systems integration and design principles, model‑based systems engineering concepts, basic scripting (Java).
Soft Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication, strong customer service focus, analytical and creative problem‑solving, collaborative mindset, adaptability, enthusiasm for new technologies.
