Archaeology Technician I SALARY:
$20.20 per hour DOE REPORTS TO:
Archaeologist Sr. LOCATION:
Nespelem, WA Basic Functions:
Performs cultural resources work focusing on traditional properties, archaeology, collections, cultural plants, and museum. The job functions will vary between general office work, assisting senior staff, and working independently.
This position is based at the Colville Tribal Museum in Coulee Dam and/or the Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center in Brewster.
Position is funded by contract - no guarantee of continued employment if funding ceases.
There will be weekend work. Minimum Qualifications Education and Training:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant experience. Experience in Anthropology, Native American Studies, Museology/Collection Management, or related fields is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Knowledge of CCT history, culture, legends, and traditions of the 12 tribes. Familiarity with equipment like fax, copier, scanner, digital video recorder, POS systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel). Ability to work in a high-volume, distraction-prone environment, understanding Tribal rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Competence in using a personal computer for correspondence, research, and information dissemination. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Willingness to learn collections techniques and perform tedious tasks. Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently after training. Good judgment, common sense, and teamwork skills. Note: This position is safety-sensitive and subject to drug testing policies. Tribal preference and veteran preference apply.
