Job Posting Title: Financial Analyst - Hybrid Hiring Department: Payroll Services Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 FLSA Status: Exempt Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Open To: All Applicants Position Duration: Expected to Continue Job Details: General Notes — Payroll Services at The University of Texas at Austin is responsible for producing and distributing payroll for approximately 29,000 employees. Payroll processes monthly, semi-monthly and off-cycle payrolls for employees of the university. Our Insurance Team is responsible for deducting, remitting and reporting payroll deductions and other payroll information to UT System Administration, state and federal agencies, and third-party vendors. We ensure compliance with federal, state and university laws and guidelines. This position offers a hybrid work option with a flexible schedule during standard business hours. Purpose: Responsible for payroll administration, accounting, compliance, reporting and analysis for the State of Texas and UT System Group Insurance programs.

Responsibilities

Process and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of payroll deductions. Responsible for monthly benefit accounting closeout process including reporting, vouchers and remittances for the UT System Group Insurance Programs for UT Austin employees, Retirees, Surviving Dependents and Graduate Student Fellows.

Review insurance related payroll processing reports and run integrations as needed to support payroll processing. Coordinate with Human Resources, the UT-System Office of Employee Benefits, Academic Health Plans, and the eBITS technical team to resolve issues.

Provide customer support related to payroll deductions. Process payroll adjustments and refunds for insurance adjustments.

Analyze system requirements and business process changes needed to comply with laws and policies. Collaborate with team members to gain efficiencies in workflow. Help evaluate, test and implement changes as needed.

Reconcile consolidated bill and insurance remittance accounts to the general ledger balance on a monthly basis, resolve issues, and prepare adjusting journal entries, payroll adjustments and refunds, as required, to ensure financial integrity and accuracy of employee records.

Remit premiums monthly for the UT System Group Insurance Programs for UT Austin employees, Retirees, Surviving Dependents and Graduate Student Fellows.

Remit premiums monthly for the Academic Health Plan for UT Austin graduate student employees and fellows.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with related experience in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration and at least 5 years of experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis.

Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service in a large organization.

Professional demeanor with experience employing diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality in all business matters.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DEFINE, Workday, and/or Benefitfocus.

Fluent in Spanish.

Salary Range $55,000
