Business Intelligence Engineer, SPEAR

Amazon’s Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments, & Response (SPEAR) Organization is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) for the Data and Analytics (DNA) team to build and support scalable, automated reporting mechanisms that enable customers to make effective, data-driven decisions and reinforce the overall Rhythm of the Business (RoB).
Location: Remote – works from California, New York, Virginia, Washington.
International travel: approximately 20%.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end delivery of complex data projects, including stakeholder management, technical implementation, and change management
Develop and implement metrics and advanced analytics frameworks that drive business strategies at senior levels
Architect and implement large-scale data solutions using multiple technologies (Redshift, MySQL, Oracle, Python, R)
Identify strategic opportunities for innovation in data analytics, researching and implementing methodologies
Design and drive adoption of self-service analytics platforms and visualization solutions at scale
Lead cross-functional initiatives to identify and resolve systemic data quality issues
Set technical standards for ETL/ELT practices across the organization
Mentor others within the organization, foster data excellence, and drive adoption of best practices
Establish governance frameworks and data standards
Lead root cause analysis for critical business issues, delivering insights that shape organizational strategy
Create and maintain technical and process documentation that enables knowledge sharing and scalability
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience in statistical analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab
Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Bachelor’s degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance, or equivalent quantitative field
Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with Tableau preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
Experience in data mining, ETL, and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
Master’s degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance, or equivalent quantitative field
