Data Engineer

Responsibilities
The Lead Database Administrator is recognized as a technical authority in database administration, possessing extensive experience and deep expertise in advanced database technologies, architecture, and industry best practices
They provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of enterprise-wide database strategies, ensuring alignment with critical business objectives, evolving industry standards, and emerging technologies
They provide expert-level guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to all Database Administrators, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
They lead the design and implementation of highly complex database solutions, including high-availability clusters, multisite disaster recovery systems, and cloud-native database deployments
They conduct advanced performance optimization, proactive capacity planning, and comprehensive security assessments to ensure optimal database performance, scalability, and security posture
They collaborate with application developers, Architects, business stakeholders, and executive leadership to design and implement efficient data models, enterprise-level database solutions, and comprehensive data governance policies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field, Degree can be substituted with additional 4 years of experience.
9 years of experience with 5 years of position-specific relevant experience.
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification obtained within 6 months of starting on program.
Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and query optimization.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Experience supporting DoD programs and with cloud-based technologies, Risk Management Framework, and Zero Trust Architecture. ITIL Foundation certificate. Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified Database administrator) are a plus.
Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
Clearance Requirements
Must have an active/current Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
