Senior Chief Accountant / Financial Controller
The Senior Chief Accountant / Financial Controller is responsible for leading the accounting operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the implementation of effective internal controls. This role is key to supporting strategic decision-making by providing timely and accurate financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, upon request. Statements may be requested weekly, or daily, depending on company needs.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and coordinate annual tax filings.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
Manage external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and other third‑party service providers.
Implement and monitor accounting systems and policies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional development and high performance.
Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, business planning, and risk management.
Stay current with accounting standards, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience in a midsize or large sized company environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership/executive role.
Proficient knowledge of Gusto preferred.
Experience in the transportation industry or other client‑based industries is a strong plus.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
$115,000 - 130,000 per year
