Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and one year of full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
Or, bachelor’s degree with thirty‑six quarter hours in accounting and one year of full-time accounting or auditing experience.
Graduate coursework credit in accounting may substitute for experience on a month‑for‑month basis to a maximum of one year (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours).
Or, a certified public accountant (CPA).
Responsibilities
Prepares financial activity reports for internal and external customers under supervisor direction.
Performs basic reconciliations of general ledger accounts, processes accounts payable/receivable transactions, and basic journal entries in electronic databases.
Monitors federal and third‑party grant and program funds for accurate fund results and allowable reporting.
Audits tax‑related accounting documents and basic invoices for compliance and reviews refund request documentation for eligibility and proper allocation.
Analyzes general ledger transactions and account documentation submitted by external customers to determine accurate expenditures.
Manages long‑term projects, prioritizes daily tasks, and ensures timely completion of milestones.
Resolves issues with external customers related to basic financial transactions and customer service complaints.
Recommends account closures based on departmental outstanding‑balance policies.
May train, lead, or supervise accounting personnel in specialized or general accounting tasks.
