Youth Ministries Coordinator Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church

Youth Ministry Coordinator (Part-time) Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church (located in northern Durham, NC approximately 12 miles from the Duke Seminary Campus) is seeking a part-time Youth Ministry Coordinator to minister to the spiritual needs of youth and their families, orienting them to the life-transforming love of Jesus Christ. He/she will organize, promote, and lead all aspects of middle and high school youth ministries including: fellowship, discipleship, curriculum development, mission opportunities, service, and instruction for this age group, adhering to the teachings of The United Methodist Church. The ideal candidate is called to ministry with youth; has a proven track record of making disciples of Jesus Christ; has specialized training in this field; is able to make intergenerational connections among youth, church members, and the community at-large; and is effective in Bible-based teaching, leading small groups, event planning, mission trips, fundraisers, and developing teams of volunteers and leaders. Educational, Background & Experience Requirements: Professing Christian; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or seminary with preferred concentration in Youth Ministry; Christian Education; or related field; Experience and understanding of United Methodism preferred.
