Winter 2025 Position Overview The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dedicated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable coach to join our Athletics Department. This position is responsible for supporting the growth and development of student-athletes in alignment with the school's mission, emphasizing personal integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement, character development, and a love for sport. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that focus on skill development, team strategy, and physical conditioning appropriate to the age and ability level of student-athletes. Teach and model sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect on and off the field. Create a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment that supports the school’s mission and values. Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, families, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and individual progress. Attend all scheduled games, practices, team meetings, and coaching meetings, including preseason and postseason activities. Collaborate with fellow coaches, athletic trainers, and the Director of Operations to support the overall athletics program. Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions. Maintain equipment and uniforms and ensure appropriate care and return of school-issued gear. Adhere to school policies, league regulations, and safety guidelines. Qualifications
Prior coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level (preferred). Strong knowledge of the specific sport’s rules, techniques, and strategies. Ability to motivate and support student-athletes of varying skill levels and backgrounds. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and school administration. Availability for practices and competitions during after-school hours and occasional weekends. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season). Must pass all required background checks and complete any mandatory training (as required by the school and applicable athletic associations). About The Emery/Weiner School
