Openings as of 3/16/2025 High School Math Special Education Teacher 2025-2026 JobID: 1330 Position Type: High School Teaching/ Special Education Teacher Date Posted: 3/6/2025 Location: Swainsboro High School (High-Needs School) Date Available: 07/28/2025 Position Purpose - Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs by implementing district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, and providing a safe learning environment. Essential Functions Conduct assessments and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues and recommend courses of action. Participate in PPTs and assist in developing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for students. Assist students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans. Coordinate with outside agencies and organizations as needed. Coordinate with administrators and other staff to ascertain individual student needs. Serve as a resource to students and parents to provide counseling for personal growth and behavioral management. Acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research. Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping and provide student information as required. Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication. Assist in the orientation of new teachers and provide in-service training. Select and requisition appropriate educational materials and maintain inventory records. Additional Duties - Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators. Equipment - Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, and telephones. Travel Requirements - Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Knowledge of Special Education principles and methods. Knowledge of differentiated instruction based on student learning styles. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education. Ability to use computer systems and applications. Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation for professional growth. Ability to establish cooperative working relationships. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards - Works in standard office and school building environments. Qualifications Profile Certification/License: State Certification as a Special Education Teacher. Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. Masters Degree in Special Education. Experience: - Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
