The Role

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a Science Technician. In this role, you will provide practical and technical support across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for students in Years 7–13. The role involves preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and resources for lessons, maintaining laboratories and equipment, and supporting teachers in the safe and effective delivery of practical work. The technician will ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, assist with demonstrations when required, and contribute to the smooth running of the Science department. Ashton on Mersey School is in the central hub of The Dean Trust and serves the community of Sale and beyond. We are looking for an individual who possess: Basic IT skills Two to three years relevant work experience Assist with ordering, procuring, storing and maintaining items Setting up resources, equipment and materials for lessons Experience of practical laboratory activities Procedures for preparation, use and maintenance of materials and equipment Awareness of health and safety issues relating to school science (an awareness of CLEAPSS and/or COSHH regulations would be an advantage) Working knowledge of secondary school science curriculum up to and including A Level Sciences Able to demonstrate experiments and techniques to colleagues and students Able to work on own initiative and to organise and prioritise tasks Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and be available for occasional out of hours work Willingness to undertake training and keep abreast of current issues relevant to own area of work through networks, conferences and other meetings Good health, attendance and punctuality record If you have any questions about the role or would like to book a place on a school tour as scheduled below, please contact Maxine Mills HR Assistant on 0161 973 1179 Option 6 or email recruitment@thedeantrust.co.uk.
