Job location varies by project. The role requires installing sprinkler heads, valves, and steel and CPVC pipe in newly constructed structures and renovations with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Cut, fabricate and install steel pipe and CPVC pipe as designed for the fire sprinkler system.
Install and hang pipe, sprinkler heads, fittings, hangers and other fire protection components in accordance with blueprints and construction documents.
Install and trim valves for wet, dry, and pre-action fire protection systems.
Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to ensure the sprinkler system is constructed as designed.
Ensure project closeout documents are submitted as needed (test papers, redlined drawings, owners training, signed extra work orders, etc.).
Attend job meetings and coordinate schedules with general contractor and other contractors.
Ensure project timelines are met and all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner so projects are completed on time and on budget.
Report scheduling delays, personnel issues, and safety concerns to the direct supervisor.
Coordinate and manage all assigned projects with the superintendent, GC and employees.
Maintain professional communication with vendors and contractors.
Complete daily progress reports including accidents, design changes due to field conditions, proposed scope changes, and conflicts with existing conditions.
Ensure materials for a job are ordered and on site as required; manage storage and layout of materials safely on site.
Maintain company-provided vehicle in a clean, safe, and compliant condition.
Keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly; inspect and service tools as required.
Report progress and job-related problems to the superintendent or GC daily.
Train Sprinkler Fitters and Sprinkler Apprentices on all aspects of their job.
Understand and follow Summit Fire & Security’s safety program, SDS, Hazardous Communication Program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly toolbox talks. Foreman must know where all related safety documentation is located on each project.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may meet the qualifications.
Education, Training, Certifications
HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
NICET Certification, preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements
5-10 years’ experience installing fire sprinkler systems, required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; construction experience, basic math, mechanical aptitude, problem solving, customer service, decision making, multitasking, scheduling, planning and organizing, troubleshooting; ability to train others.
Communication Skills
Ability to read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
Systems and Software Skills
Ability to operate a computer or tablet and read electronic blueprints; experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office preferred.
Other Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements.
Physical & Work Environment Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job duties.
Physical requirements include frequent bending, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs (and occasionally more), standing for extended periods, and working at heights. Travel is required locally and occasionally regionally; exposure to hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, dust, fumes, uneven surfaces, and electrical hazards. Must wear appropriate PPE as required by safety policies.
