Overview
Water Wastewater Project Engineer role at Arcadis in Arlington, Virginia or Hanover, Maryland. The candidate will provide technical expertise and leadership to a team of engineers while leading tasks/projects and applying knowledge to develop the team’s capabilities. Projects include water treatment/drinking water facility engineering, investigations, studies, analyses, designs, and construction administration services. Responsibilities
Evaluate, plan, design, permit and support management of water/wastewater and conveyance projects (pipelines, treatment, pumping facilities). Include asset management, distribution system improvement, hydraulic modeling, conveyance-related construction, pump station rehabilitation, gravity sewer main rehabilitation, inflow and infiltration reduction programs, and water treatment and reclamation. Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, permit closeouts. Lead design development across planning, design, and construction phases; develop design calculations, technical report sections, drawings, and specifications. Prepare reports, presentations and AV materials; participate in client meetings to ensure alignment and effective communication. Ensure project compliance with Arcadis practices; maintain quality, health, and safety standards; coordinate for timely completion within budget and milestones. Work independently and collaboratively with geographically distributed teams; supervise and mentor junior engineers and drafters to uphold project standards. May require travel for site visits, client meetings, safety audits, or construction oversight based on staffing needs. Qualifications & Experience
Required:
8 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related field; Professional Engineering (PE) License. Preferred:
10 years of relevant water/wastewater experience; Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field; experience in design or consulting engineering or municipal work environments; project task leadership experience including managing overall project delivery and mentoring; active participation in regional and/or national professional associations. Salary range for this position is $90,000 - $152,000/year. Arcadis offers benefits for full-time and part-time positions including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and other programs described in our benefits overview.
