POSITION PURPOSE To implement the parish family of churches, including St. James, Christ our Hope, and Immaculate Conception parishes' commitment to Youth Ministry and Young Adult Ministry in a comprehensive manner. This includes catechesis, evangelization, social action, community building, spirituality, prayer, guidance, empowerment, and advocacy. Collaborates with the Pastor, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission and vision of the parish family. Is a member of the Pastoral Team in all three parishes, attends Pastoral Team Meetings, and collaborates with other team members in the implementation of the parish vision. Develops and administers the program budgets as delegated by the Pastoral Associate Administrator. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for these ministries through regular updating, reading appropriate materials, and participation at workshops and conventions. Participates in local, regional, and national professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth Ministry

Assures the development of programs and activities in the parish family for senior high youth that foster spiritual formation, including weekly youth nights, retreats, religious education, socials, recreation, athletic activities, outreach programs, youth-oriented liturgies, and community service opportunities. Creates opportunities for youth to discover their God-given gifts and talents; prepares and empowers them for service as members of the Body of Christ, through service projects and outreach efforts, such as the Agape Project, and other missionary discipleship experiences. Recruits, trains, and fosters adult volunteers to assist with all Youth Ministry Programs; fosters leadership among the youth through formation and support of Youth Leadership Teams in all three parishes. Serves as the liaison to O’Dea High School and as a pastoral care resource for O’Dea students, including connecting them with parish service opportunities. Participates in Archdiocesan and deanery level planning and programming, including Youth Convention, Ascend Leadership Camp, World Youth Day, etc. Ministry to Young Adults

Coordinates the young adult ministry, including serving as staff support and contact for the young adult community in the parish family, and assisting them with planning and implementing social events, service opportunities, prayer and faith-sharing opportunities, and participation in parish-wide events. Fosters leadership and builds a network among parish family young adults by creating a leadership team for service, prayer, and faith formation opportunities. Serves as liaison to other parish staff, working to integrate young adults into all aspects of parish life and ministry in all three parishes. Participates in Archdiocesan and deanery-level planning and programming, including retreats, Theology on Tap, etc. Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by engaging young people in all aspects of parish life. Ability and desire to use one's God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church and in collaboration with lay and ordained ministers. Knowledge of and ability to work with the challenges faced by young people, especially at-risk youth. Ability to apply the Catholic faith to youth and families. Effective administrative and organizational capabilities. Active member of a parish/faith community, in good standing with the Church. Education: Masters degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, or related field. Certification in Lay Ecclesial Ministry preferred. Experience: At least five years of experience in pastoral ministry and demonstrated experience in professional youth work. Other Elements: Ability to work with marginalized and diverse populations; Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
