Overview

The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) at the College of Medicine is hiring a Research Assistant for a mobile health project focused on vascular disease. Responsibilities

Manage study logistics, including obtaining informed consent, conducting participant screenings in person and by phone, and maintaining data and documentation for IRB compliance. Travel to UF-affiliated clinics and hospitals in Gainesville for recruitment and training patients and caregivers to use a mobile health app. Collect and securely store survey data; provide occasional technical support. Engage with clinical staff, participate in outreach, attend team meetings, and ensure proper organization of study materials. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Transportation to the clinics and hospitals in Gainesville is necessary and cannot be provided by employer. Ability to use a variety of mobile phones and apps. Proficient in human subject research; experience following IRB protocols for a study; prior experience working on grant-funded research studies; prior experience in a medical setting or with patients. Strong interpersonal skills to engage patients and their caregivers in person and via phone to screen, recruit, consent, train, and support data collection in the context of their clinical episode; ability to build rapport with clinical staff. Team-oriented, adaptable to a fast-paced clinic environment; strong organizational skills to track adherence to study protocols, patient adherence, and data collection information. Ability to manage gift card payments and logging recruitment, screening, and data collection information; positive attitude. Preferred

Same as Qualifications: proficient in human subject research, experience following IRB protocols for a study, prior experience working on grant-funded research studies, prior experience working in a medical setting or with patients. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills to enthusiastically, independently, and confidently engage patients and their caregivers in person and via phone to screen, recruit, consent, train, and support data collection, in the context of their clinical episode. Must also be confident to effectively build rapport with clinical staff. Other requirements include: a team-player, someone who is adaptable to a chaotic clinic environment that is fast-paced, organizational skills needed to track adherence to study protocols, patient adherence, gift card payments, logging recruitment, screening, and data collection information, and a good attitude!
