Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC/ADC-T) — Women’s Program, St. Paul Job Summary
We are looking for an Alcohol and Drug Counselor to assist individuals in our outpatient women’s program in St. Paul. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) plays a key role in the delivery of treatment services to the clients and is responsible for ensuring that all clients receive services as mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). They provide services to support the achievement of effective personal development working with clients individually and in group settings to identify and resolve issues including substance use, mental health, personal and/or emotional and family issues. Responsibilities
Under direction of the Treatment Director and Program Manager, deliver services meeting licensure requirements and individual client needs. Ensure that each client has an initial service plan addressing immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs. Complete a comprehensive assessment and an assessment summary of the client’s substance use problems utilizing the ASAM Six Dimensions prior to service initiation. Generate an Individual Treatment Plan after completion of the comprehensive assessment, with goals, objectives, interventions, referrals, and client goals; amend as needed until services terminate. Document client treatment notes accurately and timely, referencing the individual treatment plan for the assigned caseload, including assessment of substance use and mental health issues. Provide individual and group counseling, client education, transition services, and services addressing co-occurring mental illness. Facilitate and lead psycho-educational and therapeutic process groups addressing substance use and mental health as part of the recovery process. Deliver an average of 28 hours of direct client services per week (group and individual). Participate in weekly treatment team meetings to review and update client progress notes. Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referrals, probation, and social service agencies. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Independent worker and self-starter. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication, respectful interpersonal skills. Prepared screening for and experience with clients with mental health problems. Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively and in a timely manner. Knowledge and understanding of 245G implications. In-depth knowledge of industry best practices. Understanding of HIPAA regulations for health care. Knowledge of 12 Core Functions. Competence in facilitating individual and group counseling including crisis intervention. Minimum Qualifications
18 years of age. Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with alcohol and/or drug addiction and/or in substance abuse counseling. Minimum of 3 years of experience providing Outpatient Treatment and/or Intensive Outpatient services. Must have or obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems within 6 months of hire. 5 years of compliance with MN Statutes 604.20, 604.205 sexual exploitation. Successfully complete MN Department of Human Services background study. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field. Experience with Procentive. Additional Licenses: LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP. Continued Education And Training
Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain active LADC licensure status. Attend in-house training and staff meetings. What We Offer
