Job Description:

The Management Communication Center in the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida invites applications for a full‐time Lecturer position in Management Communication. The position is a 12‑month, full‑time, non‑tenure accruing faculty position beginning July 1, 2026, continuing through June 30, 2027, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance evaluations, funding, and fit with the Center. The candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching special topic intermediate communication courses that will be taught on an eight‑week module schedule in the Heavener undergraduate program, and may also be required to teach graduate‑level business writing and/or presenting courses in the specialized master’s programs and MBA programs in person and potentially online. The position carries a 16‑credit teaching load for 12‑months, offers opportunities for compensated overload teaching when available, includes service to the Center and University, and comes with full benefits, including generous funds for travel to conferences.

Responsibilities:

Develop and teach special topic intermediate communication courses on an eight‑week module schedule in the Heavener undergraduate program.

Collaborate closely with the Management Communication Center’s coordinator of the undergraduate special topic communication courses, report to them, and obtain their approval of course materials.

Focus on experiential learning in these courses and participate in an ongoing partnership with Heavener, attending routine meetings one to two times per month with Heavener’s experiential learning team to collaborate on undergraduate activities and programs that could impact course material.

Support Heavener students out of the classroom, serve as a guest speaker, attend student organization events, and serve as a judge for communication competitions.

Teach graduate‑level business writing and/or presenting courses in the specialized master’s programs and MBA programs, available in person and potentially online, and remain flexible and available to teach in the evenings, early mornings, and on some weekends in addition to normal class times.

Receive administrative assistance, office space, computers, and other resources from the Center.

Academic Requirements:

Discipline‑related Ph.D. or equivalent, preferably from a professional, technical, or business communication program, or a rhetoric or communication program.

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of application.

Experience Requirements:

Relevant experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching business or professional writing and speaking at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Business knowledge and experience preferred but not required.
