Job Duties The Virginia Military Institute (VMI), a small NCAA Division I institution located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley of Southwest Virginia, is seeking a qualified coach to fill the position of Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Assistant Coach, with primary responsibilities in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events in the Southern Conference.

Assist in organizing and directing all phases of the Track and Field Program.

Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes.

Coordinate team travel arrangements.

Design and implement training programs focused on athlete development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement.

Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic department, and VMI administration to support student-athlete academic progress and personal development.

Perform administrative duties and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Ensure compliance with VMI, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Coaching experience or experience as a collegiate student-athlete in short sprints, jumps, and multi-events at the collegiate or high school level.

Current USATF Level I certification and/or USTFCCCA Jump Event Specialist certification.

Additional Considerations

4 years of coaching experience.

USATF Level II certification (preferred in sprints or jumps).

USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning certification.

Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Work well within a team environment and meet deadlines while balancing multiple tasks.
