Wage Range:
$22.64 - $34.29 per hour. Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications, or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's relevant experience, education level, and internal equity. One free meal per shift! On-the-job training is also available. Job Summary:
Responsible for preparing food products (main entrees, soups, sauces) in a commercial kitchen setting using advanced techniques, standardized recipes, and plating guidelines. Ensures production schedules meet health, safety, and sanitary standards. Accountable for food quality, proper utilization and storage of food and supplies, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and workspace. Primary Duties: Preparation, cooking, carving, and portioning meats, entrees, vegetables, starches, soups, and sauces. Maintaining hot and cold prepared foods at proper temperatures. Planning cooking schedules according to menu and department volume needs. Selecting and displaying recipe cards. Reviewing production sheets to determine food quantities. Procurement of food items from refrigerator, freezer, or storage. Requisitioning or directing the procurement of supplies. Labeling, dating, and storing foods per standards. Following safety and sanitation standards. Operating commercial food service equipment safely and accurately. Utilizing and cooking with open flames, gas equipment, broilers, flat tops, ovens, woks, and wood stone ovens. Performing other duties as assigned. License, Certification, Education, or Experience (REQUIRED): High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Washington State 'Food and Beverage Workers' Permit. ServSafe or Certified Professional Food Manager certification, or ability to obtain within 180 days. Four years of responsible experience in a culinary environment or equivalent education and experience. Experience preparing starches, vegetables, soups, sauces, and gravies; maintaining cooking equipment. Ability to understand and apply business math. Clear communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Desired: Vocational training in commercial food preparation or equivalent experience. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW. Union membership is optional.
