Job Summary Under the direction of a certified swim instructor or teacher, the Swim Aide supports the instruction of basic swimming techniques and water safety skills. This position assists with supervising students in and around the pool, preparing equipment, demonstrating techniques, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all participants. The Swim Aide plays a key role in helping students develop confidence and competence in the water through guided practice and encouragement.
Responsibilities
Assist with supervising students in and around the pool.
Prepare equipment and demonstrate techniques as directed.
Support basic swimming instruction and water safety skills under supervision.
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Provide encouragement to help students build confidence and competence in the water.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current certification in Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR-PR), and AED, as recognized by the American Red Cross or an equivalent agency.
Strong swimming skills and comfort working in and around water.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and positively with children.
Compensation and Benefits
New Hire Hourly Rate: Grade 6: $21.60 - $24.14 DOE
Internal Transfer Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work Day: 7 hours
Work Year: 9 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
Benefits: Accrued sick and personal leave; Paid holidays; Medical, dental, vision, and audio; Retirement (PERS)
