JOB SUMMARY This coaching position is in the athletic department at John Sedgwick Middle School, a special place for students during their challenging adolescent years where staff work to meet the diverse educational and social needs of middle level students, and enable them to realize their full potential as competent, productive contributors to the democratic society in a changing world. A high priority is placed on a safe environment and student preparation.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Capable of coaching all phases of the sport.

Assist in administration of contests.

Need to attend all practices as designated by the head coach.

Supervise locker room – home and away.

Available for home and away contests. This may include some Saturday commitments.

Be available to drive team vans.

Demand strong team discipline and sportsmanship.

Follow all coaching duties listed in the South Kitsap School District, Narrows League, and WIAA handbooks.

Reports to the John Sedgwick Director and School Principal.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current certificated employee of the South Kitsap School District.

Previous participation in the sport.

Previous coaching experience.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid and up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification PRIOR to beginning coaching experience.

Meet coaching certification standards as set forth by the South Kitsap School District and the WIAA.

Valid Washington driver"s license and proof of insurance.

Fingerprints prior to beginning coaching experience at the expense of employee (Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance).

SEASON Winter 2026

SALARY As per negotiated contract and verified experience of the same sport from other school districts.
