Overview
Lab and Research Technician 1 or 2, Neurology – University of Virginia. The Department of Neurology is searching for a Lab and Research Technician to support the lab of Howard Goodkin, MD, PhD. The technician will assist in characterizing mouse models of postpartum depression and perform behavioral testing, epigenetic analysis, and immunohistochemistry. The role provides routine, technical, and administrative support for research projects. Responsibilities
Characterize mouse models of postpartum depression. Perform behavioral testing, epigenetic analysis, and immunohistochemistry. Provide routine, technical, and administrative support for research projects. Minimum Qualifications
Note: There are two levels with different education/experience requirements. Lab and Research Technician 1 Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience (student experience included); a Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience Lab and Research Technician 2 Education: Associate’s Degree Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience (student experience included); a Bachelor’s degree in a related science will be considered in lieu of experience Physical Demands
This position may require extensive periods of standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. It also requires keyboarding and other bench work, and animal procedures requiring fine finger manipulation. Position Type & Work Location
This is a non-exempt, benefited position. This is a restricted position dependent on funding. Based in Charlottesville, VA and performed fully on-site. About UVA and the Community
