SUMMARY:

Assist landscape supervisor in completing daily landscaping tasks as directed, which includes maintaining grounds and property. Duties And Responsibilities Operate powered equipment such as: lawn mowers, blowers, line trimmers, chain saws, rototillers, hedge trimmers, loppers, pruners, and utility vehicles ("gator") Able to be at work and on time as scheduled either written or verbal and Saturday night work as required Mow or edge lawns using power mowers and/or edgers Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas Gather and remove litter Provide proper upkeep of grounds At season end return all issued equipment, uniforms and/or tools Other duties as assigned by Supervisor Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Ability to observe safety and security procedures Ability to use equipment and materials properly and safely Ability to work near moving mechanical parts Ability to work in high, precarious places and elevated places Ability to work in situations where there is darkness or poor lighting Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, and 20 feet or more Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships Ability to use peripheral vision and adjust focus Ability to work in an environment with frequent periods of loud noise Ability to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Ability to climb and/or balance Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk around with it Ability to work in temperature and weather extremes from sub-zero to 100+ degrees and snow and rain Ability to work 8 -16 hour work days as needed Ability to work Saturday or 6 consecutive days without a day off as needed Qualifications Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred Certificates/Licenses Required Valid driver's license preferred but not essential Language Ability Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Note:
