is seeking an

On-Call Behavioral Health Specialist

in

El Paso, TX , where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and mental health of children in DHS custody along the U.S. Southwest Border.

About The Role

As an

On-Call Behavioral Health Specialist , you will work onsite in DHS processing centers, providing trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and professional guidance to support children in federal custody. You will collaborate with facility staff, assess child well-being, and contribute to policy improvements that enhance child protection services.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a point of contact for facility staff regarding child well-being matters. Provide professional guidance on trauma-informed care and behavioral health interventions. Conduct facility rounds to assess child well-being and identify potential concerns. Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, and coordination of emergency care. Assist in decision-making for complex child well-being concerns, including medical, psychological, and developmental needs. Collaborate with CBP, HHS ORR, NGOs, and healthcare providers to coordinate care. Engage with children proactively to provide emotional support and reduce distress. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance child-friendly environments. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of behavioral health support. Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in behavioral health. Full, current, and unrestricted license in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LICSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Psychologist (LP) 2+ years post-licensure experience in child development, trauma-informed care, and clinical evaluations. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Experience working in a multidisciplinary, team-based environment. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with evolving program needs. Why Join Us?
