Overview

The Prince George's County Police Department is currently seeking experienced police officer candidates to be considered for the position of Police Officer. The Police Department seeks men and women with good character, sound judgment, honesty, reliability and integrity, with a philosophy for community‑oriented policing and a strong desire to serve the citizens of Prince George's County. EPO candidates must be currently certified by the Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission and have completed at least one (1) year as a full-time Police Officer in the State of Maryland. (Following any probationary period) Typical duties

The typical duties of a police officer, upon whom public safety depends, include: responding to calls; maintaining order in an assigned patrol area; enforcing criminal and traffic laws mandated and authorized by the State and local laws and ordinances; report writing; courtroom presentation of cases; and providing effective and efficient service to the citizens of Prince George’s County. Shift work is required. Currently certified as a Police Officer in the State of Maryland with a minimum of 12 months patrol experience. Past or current experience must include: enforcing state and local criminal laws and ordinances; enforcing state and local traffic laws and ordinances; making physical arrests; investigating traffic accidents; operating an emergency vehicle; responding to calls for service involving conflict management/mediation. U.S. Citizen High School graduate; 60+ college credit hours preferred 21 years old at time of graduation from the Police Academy (20 years and 6 months old at time of application) Possess a valid driver’s license and at least 6 months driving experience Pass all qualification factors listed in the Additional Information Special notes
