Federal Work Study Student: Recreation Aide at Misericordia Heart of Mercy. Create and plan or follow instructions of recreation staff in providing a variety of creative and interesting activity classes for assigned residents appropriate to their needs and interests. Prepare and set up for each activity session in a timely and well-organized manner. Follow schedule routinely; notify supervisor of any problems or concerns regarding schedule. Work with Direct Service Person(s) in active participation in all recreation activities during all class sessions. Coordinate with the recreation team or residential supervisor to plan group events (e.g., parties, sports events) and carry out programs in a safe and efficient manner. Meet with supervisors regularly to discuss individual concerns, program ideas, and schedules. Be aware of Fire and Disaster Procedures and carry them out accurately. Complete other duties as assigned. Job duration:
August 25, 2025 through May 2, 2026 with the opportunity for continued employment after the work study program ends as a Misericordia employee not under federal work study. Pay rate:
$18.75 per hour Schedule
Mondays: 3pm–5pm or 6pm–8:30pm Tuesdays: 2pm–5pm or 6pm–8pm Wednesdays: 9:30am–12pm, 1pm–4pm, or 6pm–8pm Thursdays: 12:30pm–4pm, 3pm–6pm or 6pm–8pm Fridays: 6pm–8pm Saturdays: 9am–12pm, 1pm–5pm Sundays: 9am–12pm Qualifications
Must have FWS grant American Red Cross lifeguard certification or equivalent certification (if applicable) Current CPR certification Flexibility and reliability Experience working with people with multiple disabilities preferred, not required Interest in or background in recreation-based activities High School Diploma, current student of Loyola or Arrupe College Students must be 18 years old. The minimum for hours per week is 5 and the maximum is 19.5 hours We prefer a full academic year commitment but are open to a minimum commitment of one semester Hours: flexible evenings, weekends and some daytime hours Currently enrolled in Loyola University – FWS recipient Must successfully complete Misericordia’s Auxiliary Training Class, which is paid training Benefits
