Position Summary Responsible for the delivery of all efficient and effective fitness and health programs, and the safety of all residents. Implement and document all fitness programs run in the Moore Fitness Center and within residential areas in conjunction with Misericordia Fitness Staff.
Responsibilities
Provide creative fitness programs that can be implemented safely by all levels of residents. Ensure proper attention to exercise form, workout routine, and motivational skills.
Effectively communicate with Moore Fitness staff on residents’ scheduling and fitness needs. Maintain a positive, inspiring culture regarding exercise, health and wellness.
Utilize materials related to health and wellness to create and implement curriculum around a healthy lifestyle.
Continuously evaluate, assess residents’ fitness needs and communicate progress with Moore Fitness Supervisor.
Contribute feedback to annual fitness summaries for residents that attend fitness.
Maintain equipment, cleanliness, upkeep of the Moore Fitness Center and work with pool manager/guards to do the same for common areas. Report problems to supervisor.
Report any change in fitness schedule or resident absence immediately to supervisor, DT and residential staff.
Assist with community-based fitness events for residents, including community races, Special Olympics, as directed by Supervisor.
Work in the role of lifeguard, if applicable. Maintain appropriate certificates.
Be aware of fire and disaster procedures and carry these out accurately.
Students must be 18 years old and have current certification as a lifeguard. Minimum 5 hours per week and a maximum of 19.5. Evening and weekend hours required. Prefer full academic year commitment but open to minimum one semester.
Keep Supervisor informed via meetings, voicemails, and memos.
Other duties as assigned. Job duration: August 25, 2025 – May 2, 2026 with opportunity for continued employment after the work study program ends as a Misericordia employee not under federal work study.
Qualifications
Must have FWS grant.
American Red Cross lifeguard certification or equivalent certification (if applicable).
Current CPR certified.
Flexibility and reliability.
Education: Minimum of High school diploma or GED.
Currently enrolled in Loyola University – FWS recipient.
Must successfully complete Misericordia’s Auxiliary Training Class.
