JOB SUMMARY As an
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist at Coterra , you will work with the business unit and Corporate EHS staff to support Coterra’s workforce safety and environmental stewardship efforts. You will assist the Safety & Environmental Manager in maintaining compliance to Company standards by conducting worksite assessments, training, emergency response and incident analysis. The EHS Specialist can live in the Southeastern region of New Mexico or West Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the company’s loss control efforts by:
Performing job/task hazard analysis
Investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis
Complete gap and trend analysis on leading and lagging indicators
Assist in the maintenance of Federal and State Environmental Plans, including but not limited to ERP, PPC, SPCC, etc.
Advise internal stakeholders concerning EHS compliance, best practices, and expenditures
Assist in the education and training of company personnel
Perform periodic EHS site assessments at company facilities
Contribute to the EHS on-call efforts during off hours as needed
Interface with community, regulatory and internal stakeholders
Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to read, interpret and communicate applicable industrial regulations is required
Professionally Accredited from BCSP, NREP, IHMM, etc. is preferred
Must be self-disciplined, detail-oriented and change-adept
Project management and organizational skills required
Strong teamwork, time management, oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related science discipline preferred. Combination of Industry experience and education may substitute as equivalent for degree
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a safety or environmental compliance position preferred; Oil and Gas Industry E&P experience preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 50% or more travel. This position requires a valid state issued driver’s license, and employees must pass an initial drug and alcohol screening at hire. Required to travel between field sites to perform daily tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND Work is typically performed both indoors and outdoors. Incumbents in this position must be able to physically and legally operate company owned vehicles. Employees must be able to perform work which requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and climbing. Exposure to conditions such as extreme heat or cold is likely. Employee is required to physically visit areas where actual operations are occurring, such as drilling, completions and production locations. Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing are required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
