Job Title and Department Post Doctoral Scholar - Biological Chemistry & Pharmacology Department: Medicine | School of Biomedical Sciences, Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology Role Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue education and experience in research under the supervision of designated faculty in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology, for a period generally not to exceed three years; performs basic science and applied research in the field of Gene Therapy with considerable scope and complexity; identifies and selects problems to be studied in agreement with Principal Investigator; plans and performs complex experiments and procedures; coordinates, collects, and analyzes data; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journal, books, presentations, conference and other media; prepare seminars, talks, and lectures; supervise over assigned research staff and students; assists with laboratory techniques and operates laboratory equipment; performs basic lab maintenance duties; maintains lab supplies; and other duties as assigned. The general research interest is to develop Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors to treat various diseases such as ocular blindness, and to study basic biology and virus host interaction. A major focus is vector engineering to enable more effective, safer, and regulatable gene delivery. Projects are designed with strong translational potential and the promise of significant clinical impact. Required Qualifications PhD or equivalent degree
