Position Summary Ruth’s Chris Steak House, an institution for over 50 years, is known for the Sizzle. Our mission is to deliver the best steakhouse experience. Under the direction of the Executive Chef or General Manager, the Sous Chef manages all kitchen activities, ensuring quality, sanitation, and adherence to standards. The Sous Chef will foster a culture of teamwork, train, motivate, and supervise staff, and may assist in designing food offerings and managing supplies.
Essential Job Functions
Follow recipes and prepare food to standards.
Ensure staff adherence to quality standards and safety practices.
Maintain sanitation and score well on health inspections.
Maintain high employee morale and oversee BOH staff.
Serve as a role model in cooking skills and standards.
Perform purchasing and inventory management.
Conduct line checks and employee evaluations.
Manage staffing levels and control costs.
Physical Demands
Lift up to 100 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks.
Work in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
Required Skills/Abilities
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Restaurant BOH experience.
Ability to multi-task and work flexible hours.
Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment.
Strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, decision-making, and financial understanding.
Willingness to learn and complete training.
Preferred Skills/Abilities
SERV Safe Certification.
Work Authorization Authorized to work in the United States.
