Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Emergency Med Technician (EMT) Full Time. In this role, the successful candidate provides pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation to the sick and injured through the NYC 911 system. Demonstrates patient assessment history and care provided on the Ambulance Call Report. Job Responsibilities

Reports to work on time and in uniform with appropriate personal equipment. Swipes in and out in accordance with NYU policy. Demonstrates an awareness of and respect for coworker/patients culture. Assesses patient ability to communicate in English and assists in the provision of an interpreter as needed. Assesses patient condition and treats in accordance with NYS DOH and Regional Guidelines. Transports patient to appropriate hospital and transfers care to hospital staff, communicating patient condition and any treatment rendered. Completes an electronic Pre-Hospital Care Report (E-PCR) including insurance information and assignment of claim signature in accordance with NYU policies for every patient contact. All reports, forms, and logs are submitted complete, accurate, legible, and neat prior to the end of shift. Complies with uniform policy. Maintains a neat, clean professional appearance and wears appropriate identification visible at all times. Notifies RCC at the beginning of the shift and logs onto the CAD system in a timely fashion. Monitors MDT and radio for assignments and promptly communicates changes in signal status. Maintains professional radio decorum and complies with local guidelines for radio protocol. Follows policies of the 911 System Provider Guide which was supplied to employee. Follows NYU, FDNY and NYS DOH guidelines for operation of emergency vehicles. Checks vehicle and equipment at the beginning of each shift, replenishes supplies where needed, completes a checklist noting any deficiencies, cleans and maintains vehicle and equipment, and restocks and refuels to maintain NYS DOH Part 800 compliance. Works as a team with partner and other providers on scene and at the hospital to provide high quality care. Cooperates and maintains a professional relationship with others to facilitate the delivery of care to patients and to achieve the goals of the Department. Participates in department, hospital, and regional Quality Improvement programs. Attends department meetings and training sessions. Maintains ability and credentials to work in the NYC 911 system. Complies with scheduling procedures and availability submission. Out of service time is minimized and documented on Unit Activity Log with appropriate notifications made. Drives an ambulance safely in both emergency and non-emergency mode throughout shift. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Completion of New York State Department of Health approved EMT Program. Six (6) months ambulance experience as Emergency Medical Technician. Six (6) months 911 BLS experience preferred. Willingness to devote the time required to complete assigned tasks on schedule. Required License/Registration/Certification: State EMT Card, Valid Driver License, Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate (WMD), Haz-Mat Awareness Certificate, CEVO or EVOC Certificate. Actual salaries depend on factors including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
