This is a non-exempt position. The incumbent will monitor proposed projects and plans on the Colville National Forest and Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest that affect the Forestry program or tribal operations. Work will be performed independently with regular reports to the Natural Resource Director. The incumbent will attend Natural Resource Division managers’ meetings to coordinate with other program managers. They will also assist with coordination of land managers on National Forest projects of interest to the Tribe, serving as a representative where delegated, and may assist with other forestry functions. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training: Requires a Master's degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field, with two years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with four years of experience. Must pass a Federal Security Background Investigation and maintain clearance. May participate in Fire Management Operations, including arduous duties. Must possess a valid State Driver's License and be eligible for the Tribe's Vehicle Insurance. Must obtain and maintain a Safety/First Aid card. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of professional forestry principles and practices. Knowledge of conservation practices in Washington and on the reservation. Understanding of tribal policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of forest restoration, fuels management, cultural burning, and wildfire management techniques. Experience with nursery operations and conifer seedling development. Administrative skills in federal and tribal personnel, procurement, budget, and accounting services. Professional knowledge of forestry theories, principles, practices, and techniques across various disciplines. Understanding of holistic and integrated resource management and sustained-yield principles. Knowledge of timber harvesting, sale contract administration, fire management, and forest protection. Familiarity with policies and regulations affecting forestry activities, including personnel management, tribal codes, federal statutes, and local policies. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, communicate effectively, and write clearly. Ability to work within collaborative group settings and in adverse weather and terrain conditions. Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit, or stand for long periods. Note: If safety sensitive, position is subject to drug testing and background checks throughout employment. Tribal member and Indian preference apply; preference given to honorably discharged veterans who are minimally qualified. Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribe’s Vehicle Insurance. Background clearances may be required and must be maintained.
